FinkCommander is an open-source, graphical user interface for the Fink software packaging system for Mac OS X. It provides an intuitive front-end to the Fink command-line tools for downloading and installing Unix software.

Status

The current version of FinkCommander is 0.5.4. This is primarily a bug fix release. Please see the Version History for details.

Version 0.5.1 is included in the current Fink binary distribution.

As of version 0.5.0, the FinkCommander binary will run only on Jaguar.

Download

Be sure to install Fink before downloading FinkCommander. Once you have done that, you have two options:

• Download the FinkCommander binary on a disk image.
• Download and compile the source code from CVS.

To install the binary version, first drag your old version of FinkCommander, if you have one, to the trash. If your browser did not automatically unzip and mount the disk image, double-click the .dmg.gz file to make that happen. Open the disk and drag the FinkCommander application to your preferred location.

The source code version of FinkCommander comes in the form of a ProjectBuilder file. You will probably need the December 2002 Developer Tools or later to build the application.
